Ángel Luis González Fernández was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1974. His interest in media is deep and wide-ranging; he studied journalism, 3D design, graphic design, and finally graduated in Photography while managing his own web design company, Quomo, established in 2001.
Amongst his previous projects is 'Mr Garlic', an underground magazine that included work by young Spanish writers and illustrators, in a themed trilogy of love, rage and madness.
In 2006, his short film 'Marian', about the life of a young immigrant kid living in the changing Dublin, was shortlisted for the Darklight Film Festival and the Nokia/Darklight Pocket Movie Challenge and featured in the festival's catalogue.
He currently lives in Dublin, where he is developing Ireland's first International Festival of Photography and Visual Culture
There is no colour, only light.
Bohoe is particularly interested in the complex extent of the photographic language and the importance of context as originator of meaning. While how we read a photograph has been the matter of many of the most important academic writings in the last century, very little has been done to promote literacy in our image based world. Bohoe believes that a photographer's practice must be an informed one, critically and historically aware of the language at use, whether working for a commissioned job or for a personal artistic project.
It is only then that Photography as a language becomes whole, and one refrains from being distracted by nice colours: there is no colour, only light.
Dublin based photographer Bohoe graduated at the Dublin Institute of Technology, He counts amongst his clients some of the best known names in Ireland, like Trinity College, AIB and Clerys, and has published work in national papers like The Sunday Business Post and the Irish Independent. He is involved in a number of ongoing projects, both commissioned and personal, some of which feature in this site.
